Role Play: Talking to an Eye Doctor
Doctor Jones: Hello. How are you today?
Patient: Hello Doctor Jones. I am fine. How are you?
Doctor Jones: I am fine. Are your eyes still hurting you?
Patient: Yes. My eyes are still hurting.
Doctor Jones: Have you been taking the medicine I gave you?
Patient: Yes. I take it every day three times. But, it doesn’t stop the pain. Why do my eyes hurt?
Doctor Jones: I am sorry that your eyes still hurt. They hurt because your eye pressure is too high. I think you need to have an operation to bring the eye pressure down.
Patient: I don’t understand why my eye pressure is too high. I am afraid that I will lose my sight.
Doctor Jones: Trust me, I have helped many patients.
Patient I trust you. But, I don’t understand and I don’t know what to do…
What should the patient do or say next?
